Tottenham Hotspur playmaker happy with form

van der Vaart is pleased with his current form for Tottenham HotspurTottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has spoken of his pleasure at the form he is showing so far this season and claims that the top four in the Premiership is the goal for the White Hart Lane side this season.

Spurs narrowly missed out on a return to the Champions League last season and after a poor opening to this season have managed to fight their way back up to fifth, only behind West London rivals Chelsea on goal difference. The Dutchman has proved to be pivotal in recent results having scored in his last three games including the most recent against QPR in their 3-1 win.

“Sometimes there’s going to be a game that I don’t score, but I’m in a good flow, I play for the fans. That’s the most important thing. They buy tickets to come to the stadium to see something nice. The whole team, not just me loves to play, and loves to play with each other. We want to fight for each other.”

The Tottenham playmaker also added that the top four would be priority this season with many players wishing to taste Champions League action again after getting to the quarter final stage last year but eventually falling to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

“The top four is our goal.”

Van der Vaart was also full of praise for the North London side’s latest two signings in loanee Emmanuel Adebayor and former West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.

“(Adebayor’s) a great player and a great lad as well, he’s working really hard for the team. When he doesn’t score it’s so important, he gives passes, works, he’s quick and he’s got good technique.

On Parker, van der Vaart added:

“Scott Parker at the moment is our best player because it’s amazing how he tackles and blocks the ball. It’s amazing to watch him.”
