Tottenham in shock move for Bundesliga star

Reports are claiming that Tottenham could be ready to go under the noses of their Premier League rivals and seal a shock deal to bring Werder Bremen winger Marko Marin to White Hart Lane.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have both been heavily linked with the German international in recent months but Tottenham’s interest has gone slightly more unnoticed.

The news comes after it emerged earlier this week that Spurs winger Giovani dos Santos was likely to be moving on from the club during this window, meaning that space will be made available for Marin.

The acquisition of the Bremen star is expected to depend on departures like these with Roman Pavlyuchenko also available for sale and Vedran Corluka now off the wage bill after sealing a loan deal to Bayer Leverkusen.

Marin could be open to a move to the Premier League with Euro 2012 firmly in his sights and may feel that a move to the Premier League side could increase his chances of selection.

The 22 year-old has made over 100 appearances for Werder Bremen, accumulating over 30 assists for the German outfit in the past two seasons.

The transfer will be expected to cost Spurs around £11m and could be quite easily financed should the North London club offload several of their fringe players.
