News is emerging that Tottenham could be ready to revive their interest in Ander Herrera and Alvaro Negredo of Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla, respectively.
Negredo was being associated with a move to White Hart Lane over the summer as Spurs looked to solve their striker crisis before signing Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City on loan.
The Spanish international has scored 34 goals in 79 appearances for Sevilla and has made seven appearances for the national side, providing a promising talent that would be a welcome addition to the Tottenham attack.
Herrera was another Spaniard being mentioned in regards to a move to North London, but only on loan terms.
The 22 year-old made the summer switch from Zaragoza to his hometown club of Athletic Bilbao.
Due to the sentimental value that the Basque club held to Herrera, he wasn’t expected to leave after signing a five year contract, but due to his age, was being linked with a move to gain first team experience.
By the looks of things, Tottenham haven’t lost interest in the midfielder, who can play a multitude of positions, and they could go in on similar terms in January as they look to add some continental flair to his attack.
26 year-old Negredo would be the more likely acquisition of the two, and would be expected to cost the London outfit between £15-20m, a similar sum that he moved to Sevilla for in 2009.
Herrera is admittedly unlikely to complete any permanent deal with Tottenham merely five months into his Bilbao contract, but a six-month loan deal is a viable option in January.
