Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose out on Sevilla winger Diego Perotti after the club president, Jose Maria Del Nido, told all interested parties that the 22 year old winger is not for sale.
Perotti has been in incredible form since joining the Sevilla first team in 2009 netting an incredible 34 goals in just over 70 league appearances from the wing, and his ability to be able to use both feet remarkably well has obviously not gone unnoticed by the Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur scouts.
The Argentine has also been capped by his country and whilst he is more an out and out winger, Perotti is also very capable in the attacking midfield role too. However, the two Premiership sides have received the message that he is not for sale which could result in an overindulgent bid to test Sevilla’s resolve although Del Nido’s stance seems pretty firm.
“He is not for sale. Clubs in England an Italy have called us to ask about him. But our answer remains the same. He does not have a price because we do not want to sell.”
The response from Sevilla’s president makes signing a winger for both clubs even more urgent and Liverpool in particular will now want to pursue Stuart Downing by tabling a bid for the Englishman as soon as possible. Tottenham meanwhile have been linked with a move for Wolves winger Matt Jarvis as left sided backup should they not get their hands on Perotti.
