Harry Redknapp’s efforts to sign Real Madrid midfielder, Lassana Diarra, seem to have come to a halt after the ex-Portsmouth boss was shocked by the Spanish giants’ £20m asking price.
Spurs are thought to value the Frenchman at somewhere closer to £14m and refuse to meet Real’s valuation.
Diarra was earlier being used as a bargaining chip for Real to land first refusal on Tottenham winger, Gareth Bale, however the North London club were unwilling to commit to such a deal.
Redknapp is in need of a central midfielder, with last season’s star, Sandro, injured for two months, Wislon Palacios edging closer to a move away from Spurs and Luka Modric’s future unknown.
