Tottenham Still in Hunt for French International

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he is still attempting to sign Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra. Redknapp is an admirer of Diarra after they worked together at Portsmouth and has admitted he is keen to bring the French international back to the Premier League.

Diarra claimed that talks had broken down on Thursday and he was expecting that the deal would not go through as Spurs are only prepared to pay €12million (£10.6m).

Following the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor on a season long loan, Spurs are keen to further strengthen their squad before the end of the transfer window and Redknapp is desperate to sign the former Chelsea and Arsenal player.

“Things haven’t broken down,” said Redknapp. “There is still a good chance. The chairman is working on it.
“I signed him at Portsmouth and they sold him for £22million.
“He’s real talent, a fantastic player and it’s a real possibility still.”
