Tottenham striker desperate for Modric stay

Peter Crouch has been subject to much transfer speculation this summer but is determined to remain at White Hart Lane, and has urged Tottenham teammate Luka Modric to do the same.

The striker has been linked with the likes of QPR, Stoke City and most recently, Everton, but is still confident that if he remains with the North London club, he will get games.

Crouch stated: “You know you are competing for things and I know I will get my fair share of games. I know the manager has put a lot of faith in me. If I’m here I know I’m going to get chances to play.”

Modric has been associated with a move to Chelsea for the majority of the summer, but Crouch thinks the midfielder can stay.

The Croatian international was greeted with a warm welcome as a second-half substitute in Tottenham’s 2-1 friendly win over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.

“I think he might have been a bit concerned about which way it would go but he got a great reception,” Crouch added. “It certainly makes it harder for Luka that the fans are right behind him. He knows the fans love him and hopefully he can stay here for as long as he can.”
