Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their efforts to sign Real Madrid defensive midfielder, Lassana Diarra, after having had a bid rejected by the Spanish side.
The Spanish giants value the midfield linchpin at somewhere between £15m-£18, a sum Spurs appear unlikely to meet.
Another figure posing a stumbling block in the deal is Diarra’s £120,000-a-week wages, which the North-London are even less likely to match, meaning the Frenchman would have to take a pay-cut.
Also, Tottenham playmaker, Niko Kranjcar, is rumoured to be a target of Steve Bruce’s Sunderland, with any possible deal relying on whether or not Luka Modric stays at White Hart Lane.
