Tottenham Swansea Odds : Spurs face difficult ask as Brendan Rogers side set to shock at White Hart Lane

Tottenham will be looking to consolidate their position in the Premier League’s top four this weekend when they host Swansea City on Sunday afternoon, although the price on offer for Brendan Rogers’s side – 8/1 – is sure to attract plenty of attention from punters.

Despite looking nailed on for a place in next season’s Champions League a few weeks ago, Harry Redknapp’s men have had an alarming slump in form which has seen them overtaken by Arsenal and their top four credentials called into question.

Going into this weekend, Tottenham are five points clear of 5th placed Chelsea, although victory for the Blues over Aston Villa on Saturday would really put the pressure on Spurs against Swansea.

Looking at their run of form more specifically, they have gone five Premier League matches without a win since hammering Newcastle United 5-0 last month. This, combined with the form of Arsenal, has seen them drop to 4th in the table.

The 0-0 draw with Chelsea last time out was a decent result though and now it is time for them to return to winning ways.

As for Swansea, they can afford to go into this game under very little pressure indeed. The Welsh side are not only the underdogs for this game, but they are also all but assured their top-flight status for next year.

Brendan Rogers’ men sit 10th in the table at the moment with 39 points, meaning they are actually closer to Chelsea than they are to 18th placed Queens Park Rangers.

In terms of their recent form, they did lose to Everton last time out, but this was on the back of three successive wins, so confidence is high as they head to White Hart Lane. It is the type of Premier League contest they will be relishing too.

When these two teams met at the Liberty Stadium earlier this season, Swansea earned a 1-1 draw and this is a result they would love to repeat. It will be a difficult task though as they take on a Spurs team that are determined to return to winning ways.

This is the Super Sunday fixture this weekend and gets underway at 4pm.
