Tottenham winger pleased with new challenge

Tottenham winger, David Bentley, believes that taking a step down to the Championship will prove beneficial for his career, as he starts a new venture with West Ham United.

The midfielder completed a season-long loan deal to Upton Park on transfer deadline day, after falling out of favour at White Hart Lane.

Sam Allardyce has made several top flight signings this summer including John Carew and Kevin Nolan, and has now added the former Blackburn star to his ranks, as he looks for bounceback promotion to the Premier League.

Scott Parker went in the opposite direction and joined Spurs for a fee of £5m.

Speaking to The Sun, Bentley said: “Everyone wants to play in the Premier League but sometimes you have to step down and, hopefully, it’ll be the right step for my career.”
