Tottenham’s Bentley looking for MLS move

Tottenham misfit David Bentley has announced his intentions to complete a move to the United States ‘as soon as possible’ even though he is expected to be hand a second chance to impress at White Hart Lane.

The former Blackburn Rovers star had been spending this season on loan at West Ham, however he suffered a serious knee injury in October that would rule him out for six months.

As a result, Bentley returned to Tottenham for treatment and is expected to be out for a further two months.

The 27 year-old is now saying that an MLS switch could work as a part of his rehabilitation with a temporary loan deal functioning in his favour.

Speaking to The Sun, Bentley’s agent Rob Segal said: “This is something that is interesting for David, as it will also get him fit. He would like to go there on loan as soon as possible.”

Reports suggest that Vancouver Whitecaps are currently at the head of the race to sign the former England international but there Is apparent interest from several other MLS parties.

Bentley graduated from Arsenal’s youth academy and became a key component of Blackburn’s squad between 2005 and 2008.

The midfielder may have tailed off in his performances over recent seasons but Bentley has shown in the past that he is more than capable of Premier League football and will be keen to revive that form with a move to North America.
