We came very close to hitting a big one yesterday with Abi Scarlett at Windsor. The 25/1 shot was in front with a furlong to run but got tired as the finishing line closed, ending up coming a legless fourth.
That was her first start for six months, so she should come on nicely for that and would be of interest again, especially if rocking up at Southwell where she has a splendid record.
Moving onto today, and the 1st Security Solutions Handicap Hurdle race of choice at Huntingdon (4:20).
Favourite Top Billing has been all the rage this morning, being backed into 5/6, but a 11lb rise for an easy victory last time out won’t be easy to defy especially on unpredictable ground. We think he’s beatable even with AP McCoy booked and it opens the market up to bring into play some big price chances.
The horse on our radar is the mud loving American Life, who has blown out on his last three starts but has dropped to a very interesting mark if he puts his best foot forward.
The selection finished runner-up four consecutive times on slow ground during the winter and although he does find winning tough, the handicapper has given him a chance of his new mark of 100.
