United boss unhappy with Stoke’s Peter Crouch

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that Stoke striker Peter Crouch regularly gets away with fouls after he grabbed a point for Stoke against United yesterday.

The United boss was less than pleased with the England international’s methods in securing a fantastic draw for Stoke and suggested that he may have committed an infringement in scoring the equaliser.

“He fouls all the time. He gets off with it because of his height but he jumps on top of defenders all the time,” said the United manager.

He continued:

“He has been doing that for a long time. Referees know that. Even with the goal he has maybe caught Phil Jones, but he is right above him.

“He is a handful in the air, there is no doubt about that.”

The Scot added that he was pleased with the way his team had fought against a hard-working Stoke team and accepted a draw was probably the fairest outcome:

“I was pleased with the performance. They battled really hard and played like real champions in every sense of the world.”

“A draw is probably a fair result. It is a difficult place to come to.”
