Urgent talks set for Chelsea defender looking to start afresh

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been asked by Abramovich to organise an urgent meeting with left-back Ashley Cole after it emerged that the defender does wish to move to Spain to start a new life there with partner Cheryl.

News first broke of Cole’s possible departure from Stamford Bridge yesterday on website Caughtoffside.com and our source also confirmed that the West London club have made discreet enquiries into Benfica wing-back Coentrao should discussions with the England defender not go well.

It appears Cole would like to move to the Spanish capital meaning Real Madrid and reuniting with former manager Jose Mourinho would be the favoured move however whilst interested, Mourinho does now look to be purchasing youngsters rather than those on or above the 30 years old mark.

Should Cole decide to move on Villas-Boas will want an immediate replacement and Real Madrid will need to pay Chelsea serious money for the Chelsea defender despite his age. Abramovich is keen to keep hold of Cole more than anyone but understands the reasons for his possible departure are not strictly football related.
