Valencia look to re-ignite interest in Manchester United striker

Berbatov is still wanted by Spanish side ValenciaSpanish side Valencia are ready to re-ignite their interest in Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov who’s contract comes to an end next summer.

Valencia were initially interested last year however were knocked back by Manchester United due to the Bulgarian’s form last season. This campaign though has seen the 30 year old feature a lot less than expected and the Old Trafford side may decide to recoup some of the £30m plus they paid Tottenham for him in 2008.

With the Spanish side aware of Berbatov’s contract situation they may risk waiting on Berbatov until the summer where no fee would be paid to Manchester United and just a higher than normal signing on fee would be required. With it believed that Manchester United would consider offers around £10m in January for him, Valencia will be doing their homework and should decide at some point this month whether to make a serious offer now or simply wait and hope that no other teams would be prepared to offer him a better deal than they would.

With Manchester United currently under pressure where injuries are concerned, it would seem irresponsible to sell Berbatov at this time and with Macheda likely to go out on loan may only sell if they can find a suitable replacement.
