In-form Hellas Verona are seen as 11/10 favourites to inflict more misery on Chievo in the Derby Della Scala meanwhile Napoli aim to chase down the top two with a win against Parma.
Saturday’s Serie A matches will be headlined by the third ever Derby Della Scala as Hellas Verona and Cheivo clash for the first time in the top flight for over a decade.
Hellas has been the surprise package of Serie A this season as they are currently lying in sixth in the table despite only being promoted to the top flight this season.
The international break has been kind to Hellas with many of their top international stars such as Juan Iturbe and Emil Halfredsson all returning without any fitness problems.
Alongside that, several of the side’s more experienced campaigners such as Bosko Jankovic and Luca Toni are also likely candidates to start considering their experience at the top level for so many years.
Cross city rivals Chievo are in desperate need of a good result as they currently sit bottom of Serie A with just six points from their opening 12 games.
Life certainly doesn’t get easier though for the league’s bottom side as they will be without Adrian Calello, Claiton and Simone Bentivoglio who are all on the injured list.
On top of that, striker Sergio Pellissier is also suspended for the time which has meant that Chievo boss Eugenio Corini to rely once again on Alberto Paloschi to try and stop the side from succumbing to another defeat.
In the other major game on Saturday night, Napoli will look to get themselves back in the hunt for top spot as they host Parma in what could potentially be a tough game for the home side.
After initially keeping up with the leaders in the early stages of the season, Napoli have fallen back slightly with their loss to Juventus leaving them 3rd in the table 4 points behind Roma.
Despite having time for players to heal, Napoli will still be without both first choice full-backs as both Juan Zuniga and Giandomenico Mesto are out injured for the game.
Parma have been rather hit or miss this season and find themselves sitting in 12th place in the table although a win could see them move into eighth for the time being.
They will be without several key players for the trip south with Alessandro Rosi and Stefano Okaka being the headline names on the injury list.
As the season starts to take shape now, both Napoli and Hellas Verona will know that wins this weekend will certainly help them become contenders for the European spots when the end of the season comes about.
