Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has criticised the club’s early season performances saying that results have not been good enough, but that he is happy the Gunners are now getting back to where he feels they should be.
The North London side went the whole of January 2012 without a Premier League win but managed to deal out a 7-1 thrashing of Blackburn last Saturday to end a dismal string of performances.
Arsene Wenger has come under massive scrutiny this season even though his side lie just four points away from fourth placed Chelsea.
However, Walcott I quick to back his manager, stating: “The boss always takes a lot of stick from everyone criticising him, but us players need to look up to him because he’s been taking it all,”
He added: “We are the ones who go out there and put out the performances and sometimes they have not been good enough. There are so many world-class players in the dressing room, so it is disappointing when we come back from Bolton with a 0-0 draw where we had a lot of chances.”
Walcott has himself been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in recent months following criticisms for lack of an end product.
The emergence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the return of Gervinho from international duty making the competition in North London especially tight.
The 22 year-old has always insisted his future lies at Arsenal but may consider a move away from the club if hefinds himself without a place in the starting XI.
