Jamie Roberts has picked out opposition centre Seilala Mapusua as a key threat ahead of Sunday’s World Cup Pool D clash with Samoa.
The Welsh starlet has also admitted that Mapusua, the Samoan captain, is one of the many players that he has looked to for inspiration.
“They’ve got quality players, Mapusua is one of them,” said the 24 year old Welshman.
“He’s certainly a centre I’ve admired growing up and learning my trade.”
He added:
“As a player he’s done very well for London Irish over the last couple of years and he’s certainly a player we need to watch out for,”
However, Roberts is well aware that the whole Samoan team can be dangerous, an assertion reinforced by their 49 -12 destruction of Namibia earlier this week:
“We all know what Samoa are going to bring, they’re a very physical team with ball in hand and physical in defence.”
“Certainly they have some players who can create things out of nothing and defensively that’s very hard to prepare for.”
