Wasps sign World Cup winning hooker
London Wasps have agreed a deal that will see Leeds and England hooker Steve Thompson join them at the end of the season on a three year deal.
The forward, who will be 33 this summer had made an astonishing comeback after initially having had to retire from rugby union due a neck injury.
Thompson was in high spirits despite a relatively poor season for Leeds.
“As much as it has been a difficult season for Leeds on the pitch, I have really enjoyed my time there and met some great people and I am very grateful that they gave me the opportunity to return to the English game.”
The 2003 World cup winner continued.
“However I’m excited about the opportunity to go and play with Wasps for the next few seasons. I have been really impressed with some of their young players and I’m looking forward to being part of a team that is aiming to get back to the top of their game.”
