Wenger Could Lose out After Under-valuing yet Another Player

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has offered Bolton Wanderers a bid of only £6million, plus extras, for England international defender Gary Cahill, which is roughly only a third of Bolton’s asking price, according to the Daily Mirror.

The defender has been the talk of speculation all summer being strongly linked with both Chelsea and Arsenal; however Bolton manager Owen Coyle has revelled on several occasions that no club has yet to come in with a bid for their Star man. Wanderers are believed to value Cahill at around £18million and they are set to laugh off Wenger’s cut down bid for the player, which is sure to anger the Arsenal fans as a new centre back is yet to be recruited this summer.

Question marks have been placed over Arsenal’s defence over recent seasons, but the English defender would more than likely solve their problems as he would provide their back 4 with the strength and leadership it lacks. The Gunners have missed out on several players this season with bids not high enough, with Juan Mata a prime example following his arrival at Chelsea. Arsenal valued the player at just £17million but Chelsea snapped up the midfielder for £24million this week.
