West Brom v Aston Villa Odds : Pressure on McLeish as punters lump on Baggies in derby

A Midlands derby takes place on Saturday when mid table West Brom host an Aston Villa side looking worryingly over their shoulders, and at 6/5 with Paddy Power, the Baggies are certainly getting plenty of attention from punters.

West Brom had a fantastic 1-0 win at Anfield last time out so will go into this game full of confidence. It was also a very pleasing win for Roy Hodgson who had been in charge of Liverpool last season.

The Baggies currently sit tenth in the table, just three points adrift of Everton in seventh, so Hodgson will be looking for his side to finish strongly in their final three matches.

Hodgson’s men have now won three of their last four games, so there is no doubt that the dressing room is in high spirits at The Hawthorns.

Peter Odemwingie was the scorer in the victory over Liverpool and the striker now has ten goals in the league this season.

Roy Hodgson has brought real stability to the club since he arrived and they have never really looked in too much trouble in terms of relegation, something the fans will be delighted with.

As for Aston Villa, they had an awful 2-1 defeat at home to Bolton on Tuesday evening, a result which saw them dragged right into the relegation battle.

Alex McLeish and his side are in a shocking run of form, without a win in seven games. These poor runs of results have seen The Villains drop to 15th, just three points above the drop zone.

McLeish’s men have not won on the road since January either and with leading scorer Darren Bent out for the remainder of the season, it is going to be a very difficult task to pick up anything at The Hawthorns this weekend.

Aston Villa face Tottenham at home and Norwich away after this and one more win from any of these games will surly see them survive, however it is difficult to see where that victory will come from.

It should make for a great encounter between these two rivals and it all gets underway from 3pm on Saturday.
