West Bromich Albion have signed former Ipswich defender Gareth McAuley on a three year contract.
The 31 year old had been at Ipswich since 2008 pick up just over 100 appearances and the signing represents the first for West Brom this summer under Roy Hodgson. McAuley turned out the chance of an extension with Ipswich and instead preferred a crack at the Premiership.
Talking on West Brom’s official website Hodgson said.
“I would like to welcome Gareth to the club and I am very pleased we have added a player of his quality and experience to our team, we believe it is the right moment for Gareth to embark on a Barclays Premier League career after doing so well for so long in the Championship and for his national team.
Hodgson added.
“We are also very happy that amid lots of competition for his services, we have managed to persuade him to join us.”
