West Bromwich Albion sign Thorne up on new contract

George Thorne has penned a new three-year contract at West Brom, keeping him at the Hawthorns until 2014.

The 18 year-old midfielder made his Premier League debut on the final day of the last season against Necastle, and is hoping the new contract will mean he has more appearances ahead.

George told the Albion website: “This new contract will give me more confidence. It’s another stepping stone for me and hopefully I can push on and be a big part of what’s going on at the club.”

Thorne is also a part of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States and has played a role in both of the Baggies’ games so far.

George showed his excitement at the offer, saying: “I’m delighted the club were willing to offer me a new contract.”

The youngster added: “Hopefully I can prove I am worthy of another one.”
