West Ham are to make Wayne Bridge’s loan deal permanent next summer should they remain a Premiership club.
It is no secret that since the left backs arrival from Manchester City that the club’s fortunes have looked much better and despite the Hammers also scoring more goals, their defensive play has looked more organised and solid at the back.
Since Bridge’s move from Eastland’s at the beginning of January, the 30 year old has made nine appearances for the club and although the first game he played meant a 3-0 defeat to the hands of Arsenal, thereafter he has been involved in only one loss in the Premiership, that to Birmingham City in a tight 1-0 home game.
Whilst the loan deal of Wayne Bridge is only a 6 month contract, many will doubt that the England international will want to return to a club where he mostly uses the bench and should Premiership survival be completed this season, he will be very likely to want to extend the loan or make the loan permanent.
These are exciting times for West Ham. Whilst Avram Grant and the players will be keeping their feet firmly on the ground, the team have not really played appallingly and should they remain a Premiership club next year, then next season, should they keep the backbone of the team intact, will be less nerve racking than what this one looks to be.
