West Ham ready to make move for Newcastle rebel
West Ham are the latest club to be associated with a move for Newcastle midfielder, Joey Barton.
Barton was listed as a free transfer earlier this month, following a string of criticism the 28 year-old made regarding the club’s transfer policy via social networking site, Twitter.
The move would see Barton link back up with former teammate, Kevin Nolan, with whom he formed a deadly partnership with last season.
Dropping down to the Championship wouldn’t be ideal for the former Manchester City hardman, as he looks to break into Fabio Capello’s England squad ahead of Euro 2012.
Barton’s wages could prove the biggest stumbling block in any future deal, with the playmaker currently on around £80,000-a-week.
