Sir Alex Ferguson has always maintained that January is not the best time to do any business however there are calls for the Manchester United manager to land a midfielder this time around.
Injuries have played a big part in United’s campaign this season but if any other club were to have the same sort of luck would they be joint top of the table – certainly not. With players starting to return slowly Christmas was always going to be the time where Manchester United began to pick up more points and score more goals, the recent results against Fulham and Wigan are testament to that.
With no Champions League to look forward to and an early exit in the Carling Cup, the Premiership is the biggest one and one that United will want to win. There have as always been plenty of names linked with a move to Manchester United but much like City, they appear to be players that could be brought in over the summer.
Here are a few players that have been linked with Manchester United recently:
Riccardo Montolivo
Nicolas Gaitan
Wesley Sneijder
Cheick Tiote
Do Manchester United really need to delve into the transfer market this January? If so, which players do you feel Sir Alex Ferguson should be bringing in?
