The start of the 2011/2012 season for Newcastle United saw them rise into the top four as though it was their usual place in the Premier League. However a run of defeats against some good opposition saw them slowly drop back into the top eight and with the club prepared to lose some players over the African Cup of Nations, Pardew may be looking to add some re-inforcements.
There have been called for a new left-back as well as a new centre-back, even Gary Cahill had been mentioned. Goals do not appear to be the issue at St. James’ Park but moreso that of someone in midfield. Who is a big question but when the chips are down, Newcastle do now look to have lost that passion they had when Joey Barton was in there.
Some players to have been linked with Newcastle United over the last few months are:
Gary Cahill
Richard Dunne
Jan Vertonghen
Gary Hooper
Do Newcastle United need to re-invest in January? If so, who should the club be targeting?
