Wigan Athletic poised to swoop for Championship talisman

Wigan are ready to tie up a deal to take Burnley striker, Jay Rodriguez, to the DW Stadium.

The Burnley youth product has made 72 appearances for his hometown club, scoring 26 goals in the process, including four in last week’s Carling Cup tie against Burton Albion.

The Premier League are rumoured to have held secret talks with the forward, and the two clubs have apparently agreed a £3m fee.

Rodriguez could sign for the Latics as early as Monday evening, meaning he could make his daunting Premier League debut against Manchester City this Saturday.
