Derry City midfielder, James McClean, is attracting interest from Wigan Athletic after it was revealed earlier this week that the club had reached an agreed fee with Aston Villa for Charles N’Zogbia.
The Norther Irishman was close to sealing a move to Championship Peterborough earlier in the month, however the transfer stalled over personal terms.
Derry City chairman, Phillip O’Doherty, told the Derry Journal: “Wigan, even though they haven’t made a formal offer, are interested and being kept up-to-date by the agent.”
O’Doherty added: “Wigan had expressed a serious interest in James, they spent a lot of time checking him out and they may well rekindle their interest now N’Zogbia’s gone.”
