Wigan’s Colombian powerhouse forward, Hugo Rodallega could be facing up to three months out of action after suffering knee ligament damage during Wigan’s 3-1 loss to Everton yesterday.
Rodallega was stretchered off in injury time at Goodison after a spirited Wigan succumbed to two late goals after initially leading the game.
“Hugo has damaged the medial ligament in his right knee and it doesn’t look good.” said manager Roberto Martinez.
“He’s been looking sharp and enjoying his football and it’s the biggest negative to come out of the game.”
Martinez added that the striker will have scans on Sunday to determine the full extent of the injury:
“The scans will give us a final verdict in the week but, if it’s a rupture of the ligament, we’re looking at him being out for around nine to 12 weeks so we’ll keep our fingers crossed and see if Hugo’s body has reacted well to the injury or not.”
