There is a feeling that Arsenal Football Club are finished with regards to their ever long fifteen year run as Champions League participants, however I do not share these concerns. I believe this despite the manager worrying about being a feeder club and its future stating: “yes we are worried about being a feeder club, with our players we put a lot of effort in finding and nurturing them in the hope they begin to improve and around 23-24 years of age and we get our return in that faith with top quality performances”.
The reason I feel that Arsenal will be better off as it stands hangs on key elements of the merry go round that has envelop the Emirates club, how the recouped transfer fees are spent and if Arsene spends at all. Although if the club continue to move around using this “profit making model” it will be hard to attract top players who will certainly not be attracted by a constant shift in players simply for club financial gain. At the minute it will not prove too hard to attract players as they can sell the new signings and clubs intent to players agents.
Yes Arsenal Football club are losing two world class players, servants who have performed to the top level and had a major contribution in carrying Arsenal into the top four over the last couple of seasons. However they will stand too receive between £50-55 million pounds combined for the two and those fees added to resources already at the club you can start to see quite a big war chest emerging for Mr Wenger to spend.
The gooners chief could be looking at between £60-£100 million to spend all together on new recruits, which is enough to buy three or four top quality players for the team at around £20-£25 million per new addition. With these funds sat in the bank account and more wholly pressure applied each passing day Wenger surely will have to spend and save his reputation, but more importantly, his job.
Possible scenario – (*based on players widely linked to Arsenal or actual fees given for transfers)
Out
Cesc Fabregas £30-£35m
Samir Nasri £20-£22m
*Nicolas Bendtner £10m-12m
Gael Clichy £7m
*Emanuelle Eboue £4-£6m
Total: £71m-£81m
In
Alex Chamberlain £12-£15m
Gervinho £10-£12m
*Juan Mata £25m
*Karim Benzema £25m
*Scott Dann £8m
*Jadson £12m
Carl Jenkinson £1m
Total: *£85m-£96m
So as you can see from my predicted above scenario Arsenal could begin to look stronger in all areas with only a possible outlay of only about £10 million-£11 million net. That is not a lot of money at all for the riches Arsenal hold at the moment. The squad would then include more quality additions as well as some English players for the new rota in place. Maybe if this came to fruition Arsene would do less moaning and pull less faces on the sidelines as the players would not be making silly mistakes he sees them produce “because of their tender, under 20 age brackets”.
With season tickets increasing again they will have further money to spend. If this was spent in the next two transfer windows you would see Arsene would have quite a wide array of talent his disposal. Not to mention less pressure coming at him from all quarters. Only then would the negative cloud that has hung so closely over Londons most successful club since last Christmas be moved on for pastures new.
