The top two seeds–Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray – are still involved in the tournament, but know they need big performances to make the final.
Djokovic is in the first encounter of the day as he locks horns with Juan Martin Del Potro, who has shown he can be up there with the best of them when at his best, but also knows what a tough encounter he is in for today.
Both men are playing some superb tennis right now, but Djokovic is the big 1/6 favourite to come out on top – which isn’t much of a surprise.
The Serbian believes he is in the form of his life on the grass and when playing Tomas Berdych last time out, he made the match look easy at times. The number one seed still hasn’t dropped a set at Wimbledon and if at his best, that record is likely to continue this afternoon.
This is going to be his toughest match of the Grand Slam for Djokovic though as Del Potro is clearly in great form and did beat him when these two last met at Wimbledon in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The man from Argentina produced one of the performances of his life when beating David Ferrer in straight sets last time out as he went down with what looked to be a painful injury in the opening couple of games.
However, he still managed to play some outstanding tennis and if he has recovered for this clash, he can cause a bit of an upset here. In truth, he might be very good value at 5/1 to come out on top and reach the final.
This has the makings of a classic.
After this, Andy Murray takes on the surprise package of the men’s tournament – Jerzy Janowicz.
The Scotsman didn’t leave anything on the court when beating Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-final as he came from two sets down to win 3-2. Although it would have been a big test – both mentally and physically – for Murray, he should come into this encounter full of confidence.
The bookies clearly feel as though his game is there for the number two seed to win as he is being offered at 2/9.
What Murray needs to do is attack right from the off and show a bit more intent in the first set. If he takes the first set, it would be a massive blow for Janowicz.
The Pole might not quite believe he has made it to this stage of Wimbledon, but he fully deserves his place in the semi-final and isn’t here just to make up the numbers.
Janowicz has shown just what a talent he is and he has one of the biggest serves around. Getting that first serve in the majority of the time is going to be vital for the underdog here.
He is at 4/1 to reach the Wimbledon final.
Get ready for a thrilling few hours of action.
