Would Liverpool FC take their former defender back?

Roma defender John Arne Riise has spoken of his admiration for his former club Liverpool amid speculation that is linking the Norwegian international with a return to the Premiership club.

Riise, who first joined Liverpool in 2002 departed for the Italian Serie A giants in 2008 but with Liverpool requiring experience at left back, some may believe that Riise would be an intelligent acquisition.

The defender who was part of the 2005 Champions League winning side said.

“I am flattered by reports linking me with a return to England. Liverpool are close to my heart. They are a great club and I have some good memories. I have a contract here (At Roma) until June 2012, so you never know.”

Whether it would be a good short term choice with Riise being 30 years old – 31 in September – remains a good question. He certainly has the talent and the experienced required and the cost to Liverpool should be well worth the investment.
