West Brom playmaker, Youssouf Mulumbu, has claimed that a number of teams, including Fiorentina and Bayern Munich, were after his signature before he signed a contract extension with the Baggies.
Mulumbu says that he felt the time was not right to leave, and after excelling during his first two years with the club, he thinks his progression would go further at the Hawthorns.
The 24 year-old told the club’s official website: “I heard about teams like Fiorentina and Bayern Munich being interested in me. But now is not the right time to go.”
He added: “The club has shown me the desire in every respect to stay at the club.”
The DR Congo international is keen to build on last year’s good performance, (which earned the midfielder the club’s Player of the Year award) commenting: “It means they want to build a big team and I’m glad to be involved. I know the gaffer (Roy Hodgson). I know the club, they play good football and I think we can do much better.”
