Liverpool Man City Odds Free Bets as Carling Cup second leg leaves sides one step from Wembley

Paddy Power Bookmaker Latest Betting Odds: Liverpool 7/4, draw 12/5, Man City 9/5

Liverpool and Manchester City lock horns on Wednesday evening as they fight it out for a place in the Carling Cup final.

It is the Reds that hold the advantage from the first leg – a Steven Gerrard penalty handed them an against the odds 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium – but it is still all to play for in the second game of this semi-final tie.

There are many that still expect City to progress of course. Home advantage means that Liverpool are slight favourites at 6/4, but City are not far behind them with odds of 7.4 to win the game.

This is a different matter to actually qualifying for the final though of course. For example, if the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes – meaning City have won the game by the odd goal – the tie goes into extra-time.

With this in mind, a look at the betting odds for each team to make the final is worthwhile. Liverpool are again slight favourites at 2/5, while City are outsiders at 2/1. There is no way that Roberto Mancini’s men should be ruled out though.

Referring quickly to the away goals rule for your betting reference, should the aggregate score still be level at the end of extra-time, the away goals rule comes into play. So, if the score is 2-1 to City at the end of extra-time, they will progress after scoring more away goals.

There are other betting markets to look at other than who will win the game of course. For example, the first goalscorer options are always interesting and especially so when there are as many attacking players on show as in this match.

Sergio Aguero is the favourite to score first at 5/1, followed by Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli who are all at 6/1. Then, Liverpool captain Gerrard can be backed at 7/1.

It is always worth looking at an outside bet though and with this in mind, James Milner might be a good shout at 20/1. He is in great form at the moment and is due a goal for Manchester City.

Overall, this should be a very entertaining game and an enjoyable one to bet on. The in-play markets will be worth looking out for too as this is a game that will have many twists and turns.

It all gets underway at Anfield from 7.45pm on Wednesday evening, so enjoy!
