Barca tracking Spurs’ Welsh winger

Barcelona are keeping a keen eye of Gareth BaleBarcelona are reportedly set to make a £35 million bid for Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale when the transfer window opens in January.

The Catalan giants are eager to strengthen their left side with coach Pep Guardiola already deploying chief scout Albert Valentine to keep tabs on the White Hart Lane star.

He took in Spur’s win over Fulham at Craven Cottage last Sunday and returned to the Nou Camp full of praise after the winger scored one and setting up another in another lung bursting display.

Left sided players Maxwell, Eric Abidal and Adriano are seen as Barca’s weak links and it’s thought Guardiola want’s to deploy Bale in an attacking full back role similar to Dani Alves on the opposite flank.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp now faces a fierce battle to hold onto their prized asset despite the Welshman only signing a new deal in March keeping him in North London until 2015.

Despite that the 64-year-old’s resolve will be severely tested should the La Liga side make a sizeable bid for Bale’s services and the 22-year-old could be sacrificed to fund new signings.

The Spaniards aren’t the only clubs aren’t the only club interested in the winger with AC and Inter Milan along with Real Madrid all impressed by his displays in the Champions League last season.
