Bundesliga speedster drawing global attention

Arsenal are the latest club to be linked with a move for Schalke 04 talisman, Jefferson Farfan, and are keen to sign the player this summer.

Farfan’s contract at the Veltins-Arena is set to expire at the end of this season and will make him available as a free transfer.

Although Arsenal spent more than usual last summer due to the sales of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, Arsene Wenger still appears adamant to remain economical in the transfer windows and the Frenchman may not pass up the opportunity to make such a savvy purchase.

Schalke 04 have already acquired Chinedu Obasi on loan from Hoffenheim as a solution to Farfan protracted departure and are expected to make the move permanent this summer, opening the door for Farfan to leave.

Obasi was also brought in to fill an attacking void in the German outfit that was created by the injury to Farfan that ruled him out of play for three months.

Farfan has made only 19 appearances this season due to the injury but has still managed to register seven assists and two goals.

The 27 year-old has also become an integral member of the Peruvian national side since debuting in 2003, featuring for the South American nation on more than 40 occasions.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in the winger and will pose tough opposition for his signature, presuming that the Roman Abramovich owned club will be able to offer massive wages.

The speedster is also being sought after by several Spanish and Italian sides, making it almost certain that Jefferson Farfan will be plying his trade elsewhere next season.
