Chelsea monitoring Real Madrid international superstar

Gonzalo Higuain now looks to be a target of Chelsea FCChelsea are weighing up the option of signing Real Madrid striker, Gonzalo Higuain, should they lose out to the Spanish side in the race to sign Brazilian sensation, Neymar.

The Blues are understood to have been looking into the possibility of pinching Neymar from Santos for some time now and the 19 year-old was thought to be close to a summer move, however the £45m asking price proved too heavy for the West London outfit.

However, Roman Abramovich doesn’t appear to have been put off altogether by the tag, and could return with his sizeable wallet at hand in the January window.

That being said, the starlet is known to be keen on a move to the Bernabeu, and Higuain could be tempted by the switch should the race for the starting line-up tighten too much because of Neymar’s arrival.

The 23 year-old has scored 74 goals in 133 games for Real, an impressive record in any managers books, and one Andre Villas-Boas would hope can be carried into the Premier League.

Higuain has also shown his talent on an international level, scoring 12 times in 20 games for the Argentinian national side.

The price-tag of the Argentine is unknown at this time, but one would think that the Spanish side will certainly double the £12m they paid River Plate for Higuain’s services in 2007.
