Premier League clubs put on high alert after fresh playmaker availability

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United could line up bids of their own for CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda, after hearing that the Russian giants have rejected an offer from Lazio.

The Italian club are now said to be chasing Villareal forward Nilmar as they aren’t prepared to improve upon their latest bid.

All three of the aforementioned Premier League clubs have been linked with moves for the attacking playmaker in recent weeks and could be eager to set up offers should they still maintain an interest in his signature.

Honda stated last week that he was confident a move to Lazio would go through after the two parties agreed personal terms.

However, the offer proposed by the Rome club wasn’t deemed good enough and mere hours before the end of the January transfer window, the player’s exit is in question.

Arsenal and Manchester United both have reason to go after the 25 year year-old becoming subject of criticism that they lack central creativity, with the former losing Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri over the summer.

Any deal that brings the Japanese international to the English top flight will need to be sharp as the wondow draws to a close later tonight and will cost in excess of £12m.
