Premier League trio chasing Napoli’s Argentine ace
Sources are suggesting that it is looking more and more likely that Ezequiel Lavezzi will be leaving Napoli in the near future, with a Premier League switch becoming a very likely alternative.
One factor spurring on the transfer is the Argentine’s faltering relationship with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, which was fragmented after the player’s girlfriend got into a twitter-based row with the businessman regarding the city of Naples, following her mugging in the city.
The damsel’s case isn’t a sole one either, coming mere weeks after fellow Napoli midfielder, Marek Hamsik, heard that his pregnant wifehad been carjacked, leading some to buy into the Naples’ title of ‘crime capital of Italy’.
At this point, three English clubs are being frequently mentioned with a move for the star, all of whom have the pull and spending power to arrange a deal for the South American.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all made signings over recent signings that show they are more than capable of breaking barriers in terms of squad additions.
The Citizens are used to being linked with just about any big performer the world sees, but appear to be generally interested in signing Lavezzi after appearing to have lost out on his international teammate and Real Madrid sensation, Angel Di Maria.
City seem to be in desperate search of a big name winger and as far as these players go, Lavezzi has proven himself to be up there with the best, shown in Napoli’s exhilarating 2010-11 campaign as he along with others provided endless supply to world-beating comrade, Edison Cavani.
Chelsea will undoubtedly be in action this January but perhaps not for all the right reasons. Florent Malouda, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou could all be on their way out of Stamford Bridge in the New Year and a replacement will be needed.
The trio have all operated on the left side, and although the sales won’t necessarily have to go through before a bid is made, Mr. Abramovich will surely appreciate the income if some fringe players were allowed to leave the club beforehand.
Finally, Liverpool may have spent heavily in the midfield area over the summer, but it seems the club aren’t happy with the results produced quite yet.
Adam Johnson and Eden Hazard are other widemen being heavily linked with a move to Anfield, and will both prove similarly expensive.
While Hazard will undoubtedly prove the hardest man to clinch at a reported £30m, Argentine international Lavezzi isn’t far behind, and would cost a steep £21m.
